Electric Golf Carts & Utility Vehicles in UAE | Finns Auto
How long charging takes, what it costs in AED, and how to charge safely in UAE heat, with a worked example you can check.
Short answer: Most electric golf carts charge from a standard grid supply in a few hours to overnight. Charging time = energy to replace ÷ (charger power × efficiency). Cost per charge = energy used ÷ efficiency × your electricity price, which is usually under AED 2 for a single cart on a typical battery.
| Step | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Battery energy | 48 V × 100 Ah ÷ 1000 | 4.8 kWh |
| Usable energy (50% depth of discharge) | 4.8 × 0.5 | 2.4 kWh |
| Charger power | 48 V × 15 A ÷ 1000 | 0.72 kW |
| Charge time (85% efficiency) | 2.4 ÷ (0.72 × 0.85) | about 3.9 hours |
| Cost per charge (AED 0.35 per kWh) | 2.4 ÷ 0.85 × 0.35 | about AED 0.99 |

Hold a reserve of carts for charging and servicing. The fleet size calculator adds this reserve automatically. An Annual Maintenance Contract keeps batteries and chargers checked on a schedule.
Lead-acid and gel batteries are usually charged between shifts or overnight. Lithium-ion is lighter and supports fast charging. Compare them in the battery guide, and see what charging costs against fuel in the running cost calculator.
Electricity tariffs are published by each utility, for example DEWA. The AED 0.35 per kWh figure is a planning value that allows for tariff, fuel surcharge and VAT. Use your own bill.
It depends on battery size, battery type and charger power. As an example, replacing 2.4 kWh with a 48 V, 15 A charger takes about 3.9 hours. Lead-acid and gel carts are usually charged overnight or between shifts, and lithium-ion supports faster charging.
Energy cost per charge is energy used ÷ charger efficiency × your electricity price. At AED 0.35 per kWh, the 2.4 kWh example costs about AED 0.99 per charge. Use the range and charge time calculator for your own battery.
For lead-acid and gel batteries, charge after use and avoid running them completely flat. Follow the maker instructions for your battery and use the supplied charger.
Charge in a shaded, ventilated area, away from direct sun, and avoid charging a very hot battery straight after a long run if the maker advises waiting. Heat ages batteries faster.
Charger requirements depend on the model. Ask Finns Auto for your cart’s charger specification and have a qualified electrician check the supply for fleets.
